Christie's Unfinished First Draft

Ughhhh this isn't even finished, and I'm so unmotivated at the moment, and this is dreadful, dreadful scaffolding. My FF is an alternate as to why Peter Pettigrew ("Wormtail") betrayed James and Lilly Potter, causing their death. And so on. And so forth... Also, I pretty much only put effort into the first part. The rest is blah.

The weight of the small scrap of parchment in Peter’s palm was impossibly immense. He worried his fingernails, as her swirly scrawl bore down upon him.

12 o’clock tonight.

There was a part of Peter Pettigrew, that wished she had never curiously turned up on his doorstep not three weeks ago.

There were other parts of Peter that refused to question what would be if she haven’t’ve.

They had never met prior, but he recognised her from the “wanted” posters. Knew her name from the Order meetings. He knew why that tattoo draped over her arm like a banner.

He knew what she was.

Death Eater.

Sometimes, he thought that he had never before come across any other creature quite as wondrous, and that beauty could not possibly exist any where she was not present.

Sometimes, as he anticipated her arrival, he had never before experienced guilt as racking and consuming.

And sometimes, he feared her.

The night she apperarted into his life, she had flung herself at him, weeping. Peter had never had anyone cry on his shoulder. He wasn’t the type of man people would go to for help. However, she had.

She professed her terror, her growing fear of Voldemort, her want to leave the Death Eaters, to join The Order of the Phoenix. Though she knew The Order would never trust or accept her, and the Death Eaters would never let her leave alive, she had come to Peter, hoping for his help. Hoping he would believe her.

After he had said she could be a member vicariously through him, she had been delighted, and had kissed him. And that was how it started.

Now, as of late, it seemed she called upon him more and more often.

Letting her read the minutes he took weekly was a small price to pay for her company. And besides, it hadn’t been his idea.

And sometimes, in exchange, she would give him snippets of information regarding the Dark Lord to pass on to Sirius and James.

Peter cared not for The Order, or "He-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named". He cared only for Bellatrix.
